Media Properties - Advanced tab

Use the Advanced tab to change settings for your digital video camera and your microphone.

The Advanced tab contains the following buttons:

• Format
• Source
• Display
• Compress

Clicking each of these buttons will display a dialog box that is specific to your digital video camera. Use these dialog boxes to set the following properties for you digital video camera:

• picture quality
• color depth
• frame rate
• image size
• video compression information

For help on using these dialog boxes, consult the documentation that shipped with your digital video camera.

As you change the formatting properties for your digital video camera, the Camera and video inputs box will display those changes.

The Advanced tab also contains an Audio button which opens the Customize dialog box. Use this dialog box to set a recording format and the recording frequency and sample rate.

Note

• When recording audio and video may require large amounts of hard disk. The larger your video image size and the higher your color depth, the more disk space recording video will consume. Therefore, we recommend that you record video at 160x120 and at 24 bit color.

  When recording audio, PCM sampling consumes X bytes per sample, where X is:
     1, for 8 bit Mono
     2, for 8 bit Stereo
     2, for 16 bit Mono
     4 for 16 bit Stereo
  

  Therefore, setting your audio recording rate to 22 Khz (22,000 samples per second), 8 bit mono would consume approximately 22K per second of hard disk space.
